2000 Yamaha GPR
"Vigilante" -HULL, PUMP, ERGONOMICS
Pump System: Goal is to utilize
the stock pump and tunnel from the GPR to minimize system changes, and
take advantage of the HUGE pump resources available to the GPR community.
-
-I've set the pump housing up, using the 2" spacer for rough water ability.
I've also set it up for smooth waterr as wel.
-
-
Carbon Fiber Pump Reinforcement from R&D is used.
-
-
The driveshaft will more than likely be the 2002 shorter 2" unit due to
engine placement.
-
The driveshaft support bearing will be relocated once the engine placement
is final. It should be 4" rearward than stock.
-
-
The inner hull ID tag will be relocated to another spot on the inner hull.
-
The Prop that I'll start with is a 14/20.
-
The intake system is a stock shoe, and a R&D 2 bar grate, modified
to fit correctly, blending on the front edges of shoe.
Ergonomic Systems: The gpr is more
suited for taller riders, but much can be done to improve it's manors for
any rider. The UMI steering improves feel and feedback, and the hydroturf
pads and HydroToys foot risers will make it a solid platform with little
chance for ejection.
-
I replaced the stock steering with a used UMI unit. While not necessary,
I like it's looks and it does weigh a tad less.
-
-
Applied Racing bars, ODI grips, bilge switch, with a stock trigger.
-
-
1200 seat with a Jet Trim cover
-
-
Hydro-turf black pads.
-
-
Hydro-turf side lifter wedges, with the Hydrotoys moidfication.
-
DESS Lanyard mounting on glove box lid.
-
-
Viewing of the massive rxp gauge package should be great. The Garmin3 GPS
mounting will be determined by the stock gauge unit.
-
Handling System: Since we are talking
GPR here, the rideplate selection is certainly personal preference and
riding habits. 2 setups will be used, one for handling and racing, and
another for smooth water testing.
-
ROUGH WATER:
-
The trim system is removed and will utilize an R&D auto drop nozzle
-
-
R&D Mechanical trim tabs will handle rough water duties. The mechanical
trim tabs are no longer sold new.
-
Stock Rideplate modified to accept the mech tabs.
-
The stock rxp speed pickup mated to the gpr unit, since it also has a lake
temp sender unit..
-
-
-
SMOOTH WATER:
-
R&D rideplate modified by Pistonwash.
-
R&D gp800r scoop grate.
-
Stock sponsons
-
Stock trim tabs spaced down 4mm in rear, and 3mm in front.
